Our parent company, The Alice Project, LLC (named in memory of our Founder Karen Hilton’s mother, Clara Alice Price James) was founded in 2014, as Karen was coming to the end of a caregiving journey and navigating her next chapter of life & work.
Like so many who are navigating a career / life transition, Karen struggled with feeling guilty about not wanting to return to the former experience of exhaustion and overwhelm. Karen was also struggling with trying to balance the demands of the various roles she played, but I didn’t believe she had any options. And that’s where Karen began to recognize a pattern in the lives of the leaders she had supported throughout her career.
Karen founded The Alice Project (doing business as T.A.P. Leadership Development Group) with the vision of providing practical, relevant, and sustainable leadership coaching support to vision-driven workplace and entrepreneurial leaders and the mission-minded. As the daughter of a military officer, Col. (Ret.) Rev. Leroy James, and a career HR professional, Karen knew first hand that leadership can often be lonely, isolating, and often fuel deep insecurities that cause otherwise very capable leaders to hide when they need help.
